Specific to the 95th Infantry Division; Why are E7's (promotable) who are 11B primary MOS not being promoted to E8 (MSG)?

Specific to the ARMY, only so many slots. Sorry you have to wait.
As an SFC you should have some of idea of how the promotion thingy works, Reserve, Guard or Active.

I think it's extremely rare for 11B's to be over-strength. I agree though, he should have learned how the system worked before he made SFC.

Big difference in the reserves you will only find 11b's in Drill Sergeant or Instructor units. I believe Hawaii is the only Infantry unit if they are still even active.

From what knowledge that has been passed on to me since joining the reserves is that there is only 1 infantry unit/11B in the whole reserve side of things. From my knowledge that is in Hawaii so the only other 11B's are the ones like us in Drill Sergeant or Instructor units. So the slot are very limited for e7 and up for us. But one thing i have noticed i never truly understand the reserves.

The MOS is probably over strength at that grade. So until some retire positions will continue to be closed. 11B is one of the easier MOS's to make rank fast so that's probably why its closed for now.
