I am suppose to PCS to Italy Feb 2014, 3 year airborne assignment. Sounds great right, well I'm trying to stay stateside. Does anyone know how to possibly switch orders with someone else?

Go to AKO. On the right side of the screen click "assignment satisfaction key". Click "accept" on the page that opens. Look along the top and choose "requisitions". Click "check requisition availability". It will then show if you are eligible for requisition. If not, you have to find someone with the same credentials as you have to agree to take your spot and contact branch to work out some kind of deal. I have never tried any of this, but that is how I would go about doing it. I have heard both success stories and bad news from both courses of action. Good luck. I still can't believe you don't want that awesome assignment.

There are so many pages on unit websites, HRC, AKO, etc., that cover people looking to swap orders or assignments, they even used to have a page on the Army Times years ago, so their website may even have it, you usually get in contact with the potential trade and get the pertinent info start your 4187 get both commands to sign off, get it in to HRC and then usually works pretty easy, at least it did many moons ago before all the current automation, it had to travel the regular mail or S1 tacsbox.
But today it should be even quicker with S1 scan input even when deployed, check it out and give it a try. Good luck.

Well I'm down, but the whole re-class to cook would ruin it for me. You could try branch (rarely helpful), but your best bet would be to find someone the same rank and MOS that wants to go and can be released to go.

More than likely you are slotted in a 20 level slot;therefore you would have to swap out with and E-5 or E-6. They might make an acception for a seasoned E-4P, but with the unit about to deploy , they are goingto want to hold onto you for your assignment.
