Tabasco
I love my hot sauce...and after 18.5 years of eating Tabasco sauce military style...I can no longer live without it. I have certainly branched out and tried the Pace Picantes, Habanero sauces, and the Salsa Verdes...but I always. Come back to my Tabasco.

Do you eat hot sauce?
Do you attribute it to having to add flavor to the bland MREs?

An awesome green salsa recipe that can be made in about 15 mins and is sure to please: 5-6 Tomatillos unhusked, and boiled for about 3 mins. Half a bunch of cilantro. Juiced from 4 freshly squeezed limes, and 5-6 Serrano peppers, and 1 small white onion peeled. The fruit of two avocadoes, Sea salt to taste. Throw all ingredients in blender (in order) and puree for about 1 minute. Served warm with favorite chips and sour cream.

Post your favorite hot sauce recipe.

SGT(P) (Join to see) While I love Sriracha Sauce myself, my Thai wife does not. She prefers the version we get from the local store. The stuff we get in America is too "sweet" compared to the original stuff from the Sriracha Area of Thailand. Needless to say, we keep a bottle of both in the refrigerator.

I saw an episode of "How It's Made" SSG(P) (Join to see), and learned that the pepper mixture in Tabasco Sauce "matures" in a wooden barrel for THREE YEARS before they mix it up with the vinegar.

Wow...

Sorry, Sarge... Norwegian wus-bucket, here. That flaming death in a bottle is too much pain and not enough flavor for lil ol' me...

But I do like my rum!

Having been to Avery Island, the Tabasco factory tour was quite interesting. Their gift shop was the only place I've seen where you could by the gallon jugs.

Ah yes, Tabasco and Texas Pete, something most civilians without Service history may not relate to as passionately as we do :)

I have a fav breakfast restaurant, Biscuits, that serves 4 types of Tabasco....in one way I am ashamed that they would butcher the good name of traditional Tabasco hot sauce, but yet in another, I want to put all four bottles in my take home bag. :)
