Hello everyone, I just want to share a little more about the MVPN. Our network is made of
TVC-Certified Peer Service Coordinators located within the local mental health authorities across Texas to create a statewide peer-to-peer network for any service member, veteran, or family member.

The MVPN provides services including:
*direct peer-to-peer support,
*training on suicide prevention and military cultural competency,
*coordination of mental health first aid,
*warm-handoffs to local resources based on the individual needs of the veteran and family

To get connected to the Peer Services Coordinator in your area reach out to me, James Schaale or Gregory Morton with us today or visit http://www.milvepeer.net

Hello, I’m a 100% P&T veteran. Several years back (prior to my current 100% rating) I had submitted a claim that had been denied service connection. I immediately filed an appeal and it’s now going on 4 years with the Board of Appeals. Does it make sense for me to keep pursuing the denied claim now that I have been rated 100% P&T? Thanks for your insight.

Good afternoon PO2 Castaneda, I recommend that you continue to pursue the claim/appeal that you submitted to the Board of Veterans Appeals, because if the Board of Veterans Appeals overturns your denied claim, it will be back dated from the time you submitted your appeal 4 years ago to include those service-connected disabilities will be added to your rating. You can exceed 100% rating based on your submission, but you will still be rated and receive compensation at 100%. This also includes your service-connected disabilities will be on file with the VA so you can receive the treatment you need.

Hi Everyone! Thank you for holding this Q&A today. I have read a lot about the VA Claim backlog nationwide, but I can't find any information on Texas, specifically. What is Texas' backlog status? Thanks in advance!

Hi Colleen, great question. VA recently posted a blog on Oct 13th to address reducing the claims backlog: https://blogs.va.gov/VAntage/96047/more-than-2000-new-hires-to-assist-with-reducing-va-claims-backlog/. While we don't have info on the Texas specific backlog, you can contact the Texas Regional Office to see what they can provide.

Hello SGT Austin, Since you are service-connected you can file a new claim using VA's Disability Questionnaire Forms (DBQ) for hearing with the VA if you don't have a rating yet for your hearing or if you do and you're having secondary issues as a result and need
a hearing aid. https://www.benefits.va.gov/compensation/dbq_publicdbqs.asp
