The Chinese state-controlled Media is calling for gun control in the US. I'd like to hear your thoughts on that. Personally, my first thought is that if our Government keeps growing our debt to China, it would sure make calling in those markers easier for a country that surely must run out of real estate one of these days.

Do I want gun control in the United States - of course I do - I want you to be able to control your gun so you can hit what your aiming at!!

SGT Richard H.
We have a local town where the Police Department offers FREE concealed Handgun License classes to citizens. Now THAT is my idea of gun control.

Hey China; go figure out your famine issues and stop worrying about the greatest nation on earth.

My idea of gun control is steady breathing and pulling, not jerking the trigger. I'll do that for them until my last breath!

Smoke and mirrors, The media in China ran a story about American deaths due to mass shootings and the internal American politics of gun control to cover the mass attack on students in a Chinese school by a 36 year old with a knife. Old tactic to change the discussion in China.
At no time did anyone in the Chinese government call for Americans to disarm. http://variety.com/2013/voices/opinion/china-blasts-u-s-gun-culture [login to see] /
This was an op-ed piece about American gun violence and politics but it was directed at the Chinese population as a warning that gun ownership was bad and divisive. Please read the stories again.
I guess we could publish a story about the danger of Chinese men with knives as a justification to stay armed here in the US.
"Its time China gets control of its violent epidemic of child stabbings:"
An op-ed by Matthew Parker
At what point will the world be safe with this rampage of Chinese men with knives killing children? When will the US close its border to the scourge of 18-40 year old murdering Chinese men with steak knives. We need to ensure every able bodied man and woman receives fire arms training and is licensed on hand guns if we are going to combat this new threat to the fabric of society.
Its time for the Chinese to embrace the second amendment of the US constitution and allow private gun ownership if they want to save their children. and so on and so on.

BEIJING When covering U.S. news, Chinese media often emphasize what they see as human rights transgressions, especially in relation to gun attacks. They do this partly to deflect regular complaints...

It's possibly just a counter-argument for how we 'stick our nose' into the business of other countries by demanding they improve their Human Rights laws, or do more for the environment, or stop allowing our companies tax havens, etc etc. It's an easy target subject, plus as mentioned above on the really odd chance they decide to invade in the future it makes it easier for them if less of us are armed.

SGT Richard Hanner, this is a contradiction to all the guns that were made in China and sold here, I had a Norinco Takarov that got stolen last year, and it was a good shooter too.

Y'all noticed this article is two years old, right?
I don't think we should even care what they think. American culture as a whole doesn't even really care what our own politicians say. Frankly, China's opinion is irrelevant.

I'm defiantly not the most educated or experienced one in this conversation but I was born with a bottle in one hand and a rifle in the other, it's the American way, it's freedom. That is something the people raised in a Communist country will never understand. The fact that they are worried about the ratio of guns to people in a forgin country is rediciculous. Regardless of the debt that we owe them. I have heard theories that state that that debt is the reason we invaded the middle east, to develop a sense of stability in the region for the industrial diamond mines there. That aside, this country was formed as a result of nonconformity and we shouldn't just bow down to another country when our way of doing things goes against their beliefs. That's not the American way!
