I believe that if every NCO strives to be the most professional, then that is the ultimate goal to that part of the creed.

I agree. He responded with, But does that match the statement of "NO ONE is more professional than I".

I would like to think a was a good NCO, but I know there are better NCOs out there. At the same time that never stopped me from trying to get better.

As a blanket statement, no. This should be something every NCO...scratch that...every member of the military should strive for but the reality is some don't. This part of the creed was not written because it is the way it is. it was written to motivate NCOs to be as professional as they can be.

Yes, every NCO, whether serving or not, needs to strive to be all that they can be.

Having been a SNCO and my Father was also a E-8, in the AF Reserves that for the last 5 or so years of his career before Retirement was filling double duty as his unit's 1SGT and the Superintendent of his work section. It really inspired me to try and be the best NCO I could as I rose through the ranks. I wish that I could have been promoted to SMSgt (E-8) in the Air Force. But, I know that he was proud of me for making it into the SNCO ranks. Which, I believe is what every NCO regardless of branch of service should strive to achieve if they are making the Military a 20 plus year career choice. What do you other SNCO's think of my statement? Because, I know that the Air Force side has a similar worded creed for all NCO's from E-5 up to E-9.
