I don't think I would recommend using paint....but I sure would be talking to the place that did it and have them fix it or give you money to fix it. That is unacceptable.

He doesn't need to go that far and buy new trousers. He can get the stripes removed and a new pair resewn. What he should do is go back to the dry cleaners and formally complain so that they'll replace the stripes or the cost to get it fixed.

CW2 (Join to see) - he could however I would go and get a new pair. I don't think it looks as good with the strip resewn on. just like when I add a service stripe I get all new ones.

SSG (Join to see) - I agree with both options to a certain extent. If this were my uniform that the dry cleaner ruined I would be hopping mad. I would want new trousers, maybe even accept a little wear proration. The dry cleaner will undoubted assert they had nothing to do with the damage. You may also have leverage with the dry cleaner. Is he on post, as in the PX or as a base contractor? If off post, how much business does he do with folks from your post, would your complaint, if it became public, cause the establish to suffer in loss of revenue? Seems there are pressures that may come to bear to encourage the cleaner to make the correct choice and making you, the customer, happy. The cost of a pair of trousers pales in comparison to the potential loss of income from the "bad press."

You comment is my point exactly. Disregard the damage you caused and you will more that pay what small cost would have been incurred to make things right.
