Since the Army is going into more non-combat related deployments, but is requiring NCOES in order to pin-on NCO rank. What plans are being put into place to allow soldiers that promotable on deployment but can't make schools (BLC, ALC, ETC) until the end of their deployment?

SSG(P) (Join to see) I hope they get it right, it seems this is a unit responsibility to make sure Soldiers attend the NCOES. The big Army is about to strip Non-shows of rank and force them out. It's about 14,000 Soldiers.

This is why I'm asking. By making soldiers wait you are putting their careers on the line. Or even holding up movated soldiers from advancing.

We produce a Deployed OML and match it with the rear-d OML. Priority goes to those SGTs who could not go right before or during the deployment. Followed by those promotable IAW the new OML rules. Our NCOA worked directly with us to provide some extra slots upon redeployment to make up for the lack of eligible Soldiers.

With that said we still seem to be our own worst enemy for all NCOES. I say this because we brought Soldiers who should have not put the NCOES /PME on hold due to the deployment. The command just choose to prioritize over the Soldiers despite the fact we had a pool to choose from. NCOs have to speak up for themselves as well as being willing to provide some resistance - yes they will execute as directed but to many are willing to say no issues and defer their own PME. I don't see this in the Officer Corps unless directed and a plan on the backside with HRC. Finally we submit 4187s while deployed requesting slots on the backside for ALC & SLC.

With the new rules for deferment I don't think this will be as big as an issue. Who wants to go to the GO for a deferment.

CSM,

So with that in mind if I am promotable but do not have the school yet what does that mean after I completed the school. I have missed the past few months for cut off due to not having the school. I am being told that because I was not selected during those months that I made cut off that once I complete the course regardless of the promotion points for the current month I will be picked up, is there any truth to that? is there somewhere you can point me that talks about this? But not only on top of that I am currently deployed and got selected to go to a class and it is being deferred in favor of keeping me on deployment and to attended after.

Even in the current system when promotable you can get some top slots in NCOES schools upon return.
