I just want to hear what people think about this because all the joes on our team are sick of this. Our new guys have no confidence in her leadership as she was recently promoted to Cpl. Anyone in a similar position or heard of such occurances? Im all for females soldiers who can pull their own weight but when someone has to complain their way to the top, this isnt right and our nco's are just gassing her up so to speak and I do not understand why.

You should worry about why you aren't getting promoted and not why someone else is.
This sounds bitter.

Well the fact is, I try to ignore this but its constantly brought up by other soldiers on the team and soldiers and nco's in different sections. I' d like to think my nco's have a grand scheme of why they favor her over anyone else but i've yet to see the value. I will congratulate anyone who deserves to be promoted, not put into a position for rank sake. Now I am focuse on my promotion to sargeant and I could care less about a cpl position but it comes up from others as to why I did not get the position instead quite frequent. Like I mentioned before, I could care less about a cpl position but now she has soldiers under her that can't see her as a leader. Maybe it is because two of her soldiers is 7 years older and she dosent have a drivers license but I just want to hear some feedback .thank you and I mean no disrespect in post

SGT (Join to see) - CSM David Heidke's point "You should worry about why you aren't getting promoted"
Was..focus on YOU.. not what others are bringing up..
Go to your leaders and ask the direct questions.. What do you need / want to see from me you're not now?
What do I need to do to be successful, competitive for promotion and increased responsibility in your eyers Sergeant/ Sir?
Ask for examples if tangible, specific goals or conditions are not stated.
IOW, if the leader says "you need to do more" or "You need to do better" or "you need to be as good as HER'
Say thank you, can you give me an example? something specific?

to follow up on your specific question... Like it or not you are not in a position to change leaders opinions or actions directly, nor peers for that matter..
You can only change you, and or set an example, that others might come to.

SGT (Join to see) - But the rub is this. If you do choose to be "that guy" or someone else chooses......those ducks and documents better be lined up in a nice row before taking it up the chain.

What happened to Personal Courage, SGT (Join to see)?! I thought that was an Army value?! If you know it's wrong and you're not just belly aching, have some stones and make some calls.

Short answer. Do your job and get promoted. Quit complaining. Nobody owes you a thing. Get off your @$$ and work for it.
I was promoted to E-7 in 13 years. A "fast tracker" in my MOS. Some SMs in my MOS have a case of "sour grapes" because of my quick promotion. However, I took the hard assignments, took the hard positions and went to the hard schools. I did what I needed to do to advance. I recently met up with my old instructor form ALC. I was an E-5 and he was a E-6 at the time. Now I am an E-7 and he is still an E-6. I tell you this not to gloat or demean him but as example of what it takes to get promoted. I have had an unconventional career as far as SMs in MOS go but, I did what I had to do to set myself apart.
If you are unhappy with your current situation I suggest you do something to set yourself apart from the crowd and earn some stripes. If it is not illegal, immoral or unethical... draw fire and move out.
