We have seen many things about our POTUS that many do not like about him, and while we have all had leaders we did not like, we could usually pick out a few things, or traits/characteristics you could use or emulate.

So, list the things you do like, keep it professional as always. What did momma say? "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say nothing all."

I'll start:
(1) President Obama broke the racial barrier. He earned an education, became a Senator and a lawyer and is now the President.
(2) He has given millions a hope that one day they can do something great, especially those from under privileged areas.

(3) He has largely supported the military until as of recently with the downsizing, which is inevitable in every decade, our leaders have to make cuts...we keep only the best and brightest, right?

(4) He is a very supportive husband and father, and we need strong father role models in today's society where fathers are as rare as a long term-marriage.

I believe he honestly wants good things for America...I don't necessarily agree with the way he is going about it.

(5) He authorized the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

I know there aren't many fans on RP, but if there is something you like, share it if you dare.

He has a nice smile in the picture you put with question.

In truth, I had hoped he would prove my fears wrong when he was elected and that he was not all smoke and mirrors. I knew he was poorly qualified when elected but hoped that he would have the self awareness to rely on sound advice.

Let me critique your five:

(1) The American people broke the racial barrier by voting for him...it was not something he actually accomplished. He was not the first person of color to be elected Senator, to be a lawyer or make through college or law school. I think his election and the current state of race relations in our Nation show the negative of electing a person solely based upon race, gender or faith?

(2) I missed the message that they were handing out hope? Does it come in a box? He used hope as marketing tool but I guess many were able to gain hope from his running for office and election, sadly much of this hope was misplaced as those communities that provided him the strongest support are the one's suffering the most under his Presidency...but they are still his strongest supporters?

(3) He strongly supported the military? Missed this one too? Can you provide examples please?

(4) Okay, he is not a cheating piece of...he is not embroiled in the personal scandals that plagued Bill Clinton. So I will give you this one, but being a decent husband and fathers should not be considered something that exceptional? Was not there a time that this was the standard?

(5) There was NO WAY he could not survive the political fire storm of not authorizing the removal of bin Laden. In truth, I think it was poor leadership to announce that we had taken out bin Laden until after all the captured intelligence had been processed and communication line back traced...but I can also understand why one would want to let the American people know as well.

As opposed to strongly supporting the military, he has done tremendous damage to destroy capabilities, readiness, amd morale. Openly gay is now ok, undecided( read so called transgender) is ok, illegals are ok. Punish Active Duty that stop child rapes, ruin the retirement system by putting the hopes of futire retirees in the stock market instead of guaranteed. He's fought to reduce benefits to Retirees, make Retirees healthcare cost significantly more. Current projections are a 50% increase in less than 2 years. That individual is no friend of the military establishment.

He's shown remarkable dignity and aplomb in the face of unprecedented hatred and disrespect. I would not have been able to maintain such forbearance. He has managed to accomplish a lot in the country despite the hatred and attempts to block everything. He inherited a terrible mess and has done a lot to bring us out of it. He strikes me as a decent and personable man in character.

Do I have disagreements about him? Yes, of course, but this isn't the thread for it. However, my disagreements are voiced respectfully, with an eye towards making things better, not tainted in the red of hate.

President Obama will be remembered as one of the great presidents if only because of the ACA. He is dragging the United States, finally, towards par with other advanced nations as far as their health care goes. He is clearly the best president in 50 years because of this -- getting a program passed that benefits all Americans the way the Great Society programs of the 1960's did.

There is not enough space for me to comment. There are a few things ha has done. Gotten Hillary, Kerry, joe Bidin and Ken Salazar out of the senate. If you disagree with Obama policies you are branded a racist.

I believe that he has tried to push the country towards the future. Some have been vehemently against this 'change', but then that has been the case at all times during the US' existence. Foreign and domestic policy, environmental protection, rebuilding our country's infrastructure, energy policy, and how we view and support the military have all received a renewed and different emphasis under his administration. Some policies have been more successful than others, but since no president gets it 100% right, no matter what their political philosophy, this isn't anything new. No administration operates in a vacuum, and they all build upon the policies and foundation set by previous administrations. Put aside all the rhetorical nonsense from birthers, conspiracy theorists, racists, political opponents, etc., and the fact that no administration's policies survive contact with the rest of the world intact, and let's discuss the true character of the man. I appreciate his openness to the public (I can't imagine any past president deciding to be that accessible, even if they did engage via Twitter, You Tube, etc.), intellectual and calm demeanor, and display of appreciation of his family. Navigating your daughter' teenager years is difficult enough, but imagine having to do that after rancorous meetings with foreign ministers and other dignitaries, tense sessions with Congressional leaders, and a dance with the media in the WH press briefing room. He gets my respect just on that note.
