We have seen many things about our POTUS that many do not like about him, and while we have all had leaders we did not like, we could usually pick out a few things, or traits/characteristics you could use or emulate.

So, list the things you do like, keep it professional as always. What did momma say? "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say nothing all."

I'll start:
(1) President Obama broke the racial barrier. He earned an education, became a Senator and a lawyer and is now the President.
(2) He has given millions a hope that one day they can do something great, especially those from under privileged areas.

(3) He has largely supported the military until as of recently with the downsizing, which is inevitable in every decade, our leaders have to make cuts...we keep only the best and brightest, right?

(4) He is a very supportive husband and father, and we need strong father role models in today's society where fathers are as rare as a long term-marriage.

I believe he honestly wants good things for America...I don't necessarily agree with the way he is going about it.

(5) He authorized the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

I know there aren't many fans on RP, but if there is something you like, share it if you dare.

I stand with him on his position to continue the surveillance by the NSA, although he has given in on that subject already. His support to cyber has also improved things but his overall support to the military has never been acceptable, both in pulling us out of Iraq (to eventually see ourselves going back I'm sure in the not so distant future), and his refusal to use the military effectively. His decision to kill UBL was hardly a tough one. I'm also not a fan of how he spiked the football and neglected to offer his appreciation to his predecessor who gave his intelligence personnel the tools to figure out where UBL was. There is no humbleness from this President, unlike what I loved about President Bush (despite the missteps he made as well).

In a word, nothing. But I'll go down your talking points.

1.) I would argue that racial relations in the U.S. are at the worst I've seen in my lifetime and I'm almost 46. If he's broken the barrier, he's also broken or helped break the mechanism for a respectful dialogue between groups of people, something that doesn't exist any more. This is a myth.

2.) He's done nothing great in his administration, so much so that we're at what I feel is the lowest nadir in this country's domestic and international standing since the days of Jimmy Carter. We have almost completely conceded the arbitration of the brewing conflict in Eastern Europe to Germany, an unwise move given the tone of geopolitics in that part of the world over the last 100 years. We are now reacting to what Putin's war machine does, and what China's regime of maritime aggression is doing, despite the much-heralded 'pivot' to Southeast Asia. That's one thing I actually agreed with Obama on, but the fruits of that initiative are nowhere to be seen. If there's going to be another regional conflict, it's going to start in the South or East China Seas. On the home front, our economy is little if any better than it was in 2008 due to his policies and we'll be $20 TRILLION in debt by time Obama leaves office. He's not underprivileged and he never was. This is another myth.

3.) He does NOT support the military and has gone through three SECDEFs and is now on his fourth SECDEF in a little over six years. That's hardly indicative of a good relationship with the uniforms.

4.) I can't speak to his status as a good husband and father, because I don't know the situation first hand. I would concede that it all seems idyllic, but again, I really don't know. Whether he wants 'good things' for America is debatable. What you and I consider good things, he may not, and vice versa. That's a highly subjective piece of terminology. It also brings to mind the following proverb: the road to hell is paved with good intentions. If his intentions are to make this country a more socialistic entity (read: interventionist, nanny state) and attempt to bring that most elusive of all things, equality, to the masses, then yes, he's succeeding brilliantly. On a side note, I would argue that with the so-called playing field nearly leveled, where everybody's a winner, we have never been more miserable or rudderless as a society. In fact, we're a lot closer to Marx's 'workers paradise', something not lost on a lot of us.

5.) The operation known as Neptune's Spear is still murky, notwithstanding the VP's ill-considered decision to identify its executors. Any information that was garnered to get to the courier to get to Bin Ladin, if true, was obtained via what has become known as enhanced interrogation techniques, i.e., psychological and physical abuse, something the erstwhile senator from Illinois went on record as opposing. If what we have been told is true, that UBL was in fact killed by U.S. commandos in Pakistan in 2011, it was due to years of patient detective work by our intelligence and military communities, in spite of politicians like Obama. The political gain he made was getting reelected by being the right guy in the right place at the right time. If anybody deserves the credit for slaying the dragon, so to speak, it's the quiet professionals of the intelligence-gathering and uniformed services.

Unfortunaly there is a lot of hate in the USA. Republicans hate Dems and hate Obama and so goes the campaigning. If you can't change the politics, destroy the person. Personally, and having been all over the world and seen where a universal health care program works, I have to go with Obamacare. I know Republicans hate it, but they hate it because it came from the Democrats. We pay for everyones healthcare anyway.... (think the $2000 ankle wrap in the ER). If we are to evolve as an intelligent society, we have to move away from educating ourselvs solely on FOX, CNN, MSNBC, do OUR homework, and make an intelligent decision separate from the poliital action commities billion dollar ad campaign.
