I am a 35f and its ok. The work enviroment depends on where you are stationed. In a tactial unit be ready for alot of physical security inspections and processing security clearance packets. At the stragetic level I do alot of reading and building powerpoints for briefings. But the clearance that you get is awesome for jobs in the civilian sector.

The clearance is nice it just depends on if you are willing to work in the great DC area. There are jobs in other places but the bulk start there or are on the east coast.

Both are excellent options. If you are an outgoing person with tons of initiative I would suggest 35M. If you are more reserved or have a type B personality you might be happier as a 35F. Have you considered dropping a packet for 35L? That job requires lots of writing and you must be a people person.

SSG, thank you for the advice. I was leaning towards 35M, and I'll look into 35L. I wanted to see which MOS in people's experience required more interaction with others. I currently work in an office all day everyday, but I don't get a lot of interaction with other people.

SGT (Join to see) - 35M is all about working with people as is 35L. The positive thing about 35F is there are more jobs in that profession in the civilian sector.

Yes. I've heard the same thing from one of my friends about the 35F. Thank you for sharing your expertise.

35F all depends on mission and where you are located. You can work at the company level, or all the way up to Corps. Tactical you will be doing lots of field analog training, Strategic you will be doing a lot of research and writing.

Thinking about going Reserves, but have to re-class. My re-class options are 35F and 35M, what is the work environment like?

I'm a 35F active. I can tell you that mainly we do paperwork and security clearances. It's all desk work, when deployed we actually do our job of IPB. It's the process used to find predictability of the enemy and make suggestions to the unit commander of which course/routes/targeted individuals to take and what the enemies next move will be. 35F is a all source analyst. We take information from every Intel based job and press it into a big picture like a puzzle.

35M is the humint. They deal with people and collect Intel based on personal communication with people. It's real time Intel, but you'll be required to learn a foreign language. They are kind of like public relations for the army with populations, but their primary focus is to collect information about enemy targets and report it back to the 35Fs.

35 Fox is the jack-of-all-trades and has a broad applications in the civilian sector. I'm a counter-terrorist with Homeland Security and reclassified in the 35 series as a career enhancer for federal law enforcement ....it's served me very well!

I'm definitely starting to think about going 35F precisely because of how that might help my future civilian career.

I work at HHC & am a 35F. I help a lot with my OIC's full time position during drill for whatever briefings he needs to prepare. I'll be 100% honest in saying that your skills you gain during AIT will become rusty, you'll (I hate to say never) barely if at all use them. I think I have a pretty cool MOS but it sucks that I don't get to actually do what I was trained to do, at all.

As far as work environment, that will depend on additional schooling. As a Fox, I attended the GWOT Weapons Intelligence Course, so I spent a lot of time with EOD analyzing post-blast sites and conducting SSE (Sensitive Site Exploitation).

I can't speak for the MOS. However, your Reserve career will be what you make of it. Reach high and make it a good one.

Know that in these MOS you will be prime for deployment. You have a degree, you can pursue warrant or officer commissioning route with MI as preference. Good luck in your pursuits.

Got it, look at Green to Gold, ROTC or if you go NG depending on the state, most cover tuition. The Reserve will as well. GI Bill combined should make college livable.
