Can't emphasize the necessity of Safety Stand Downs from time to time. Sometimes we become too complacent and the worst happens, loss of a buddy. Never served on a flight deck but I imagine a swivel head, common sense, luck, following procedures, and safety-safety-safety will save one's life.....such a dangerous place.

Having lost three shipmates on an AD (Destroyer Tender - repair ship for you non-Navy types) due to an Industrial accident, I'm painfully aware of how dangerous peacetime operations can be. Not to mention all the non-life threatening injuries we seem to take...

So true Sir, so true. Peace or war service members serve in harms way of some sort and regretfully souls are lost.

The flight deck of an aircraft carrier is still one of the most dangerous places on the planet. Reminders of staying safe are always good to highlight.
