I'm just wondering how it works when the Promotion Board announcement Milpers contradicts the TIG requirements outlined in the AR. For example with FY16 SFC board, persons boarded need a DOR of 2 June 2014. Now I'm not complaining by no means, I didn't think I was going to be looked at until 2017, but I am just wondering how it will work if you do get selected and you are under the 36 months TIG.

It is also the same for the FY16 MSG board.

Great question SSG Foster. I'm always looking at this as well wondering if this year is my year. My ops SGM told me a few weeks ago that this year I might possibly be getting looked at. If so I'm more then ready but I was under calculating that definitely next year and possibly this year for my board file to open. Either way I'm more than ready as I always keep my records up-to-date. Just waiting to take another DA Photo. Good luck to you, and hopefully I find out a positive yes or no for this years board!

Honestly, I feel that knowledge is an individual thing. Some individuals can absorb in 1 year what it takes other 3-4 years. Some NCO's are just more mature and more disciplined. This can go a long way towards making up for TIS. At the same time while some might thrive being thrown into the proverbial fire, statistically speaking the best results are obtained by bringing our future leaders along in a steady progression, not moving them as fast as they can go until they fail.
