Time Magazine keeps referring to the Marine Corps Ball as "Prom"...

Offensive? Nah just stupid.

SMs should not be inviting celebs to official balls in an attempt to get attention. It just rubs me the wrong way.

The word Ball, as it refers to a dance of some kind, is synonymous with Prom (which is short for promenade, I believe). ie: Debutante Ball, High School Prom. They are both about getting together, having a good time, relaxing a bit. Someone has initiated one more inane topic of conversation to keep us diverted from the more important ones. ie: treatment of veterans, illegal immigrants, social security shortfalls, politics as a career. I could go on and on and on.
