I’m PCSing to JBLM in Washington and I can’t get on post housing till the 31st. I’ll have to stay in a hotel for 4 nights. I used my GTCC to book the hotel. Was that the right move? This is my first PCS move so it’s all pretty new to me.

Yes, that was the corrective. You are required to use your government travel card for all PCS related expenses. Everything from gas, plane tickets, hotels, and food should be charged on your government travel card.

I refused a government travel card. I would rather put it on my credit card and get the perks

CW4 Craig Urban a lot of people say that. I'm just going off of DOD guidelines. For a SPC or SGT that can be a lot of money

CW4 Craig Urban I used my own money the whole way from Kansas to Washington but once we learned we had to do a hotel room for 5 days I wasn’t able to afford that. Trust me I did t want to use it either Sir

Save your receipt. Get a statement of non-availability from housing for justification. Ensure you upload those documents when you submit your voucher. You should be good to go. Worst case scenario is that you pay that portion of charges on your card.
