To go to ALC do you have to have a P status to SSG?

For the most part, yes. According to the STEP program, that is. But that's only one aspect of going to ALC.

Technically yes by the STEP program. You can always try as a walk-on to any school as long as you meet the Pre req for the school. Your training NCO can always put you in there without the P status but you can be bumped for one. We put 2 sgt's in that weren't (P), one got bumped and one got in...

To be put on orders by hrc yes, but you can walk on in a non profitable status .. just contact the NCOA at MSCoE.

Is that what HRC wants? Yes if your active duty. I used to take walk ons all the time when I ran ALC
