I’m order to join go to OCS with the National Guard, do you have to meet strict height/weight standards or can you do tape test? I’ve heard it both ways.

The standard is the same for active duty, reserves, and national guard. When and if you do not make your target weight then they will tape your neck and abdomen. Age will depend on what body fat % you are allowed to have.

Correct, the standard is body fat percentage. I started lifting weights shortly after branch transferring to the Engineers and rather quickly went from a 44" chest to a 48" chest and a lean body mass of about 178. Since I'm only 5'9" and only allowed 184, I taped every weight in. Never had a problem, even though my opinion of the method the Army uses is at best mediocre.

Bobby Maddox no, the HT/WT standard is BF%, BF% is determined by taping. The people who get taped are the ones above a certain BMI.
