I have completed my first initial 8 year contract will the army but the last four years was in IRR and the first four was Active Duty and I got out as a specialist I’m currently working with a recruiter to get back in but I can’t find my original promotion orders for specialist and he tells that is what I need if I want to enlist the only thing I can find with the date of when I got promoted is my ERB I’m wondering could I use that or will I have to take reduction in rank to PFC just to go back Active Duty?

Look up the eVetRecs website, fill out the Java applet, for NPRC in St. Louis, sign and date the form, fax it, save the form with the request number, or you'll have to start all over again...NPRC should be able to help you dig up all tour stuff, or petition Army for you to try to help...call all three Congress offices for you, submit the Privacy Act requests, the can't help you till you do, that's Federal law...explain what you need to their local case workers, not the DC offices, they all just do policy, NPRC can be called, it's part of NARA, the Natl Archives, it'd depend on when you got out, one can also call their senior staff, we've gotten a good deal of help from NPRF over a protracted period, trust me, believe what I tell you, if the paper exists, you should be able to have them find it for you, also, if you're listed at that rank, if tour DD214 needs to be corrected, you can petition Army BCMR, the correction board, possibly NPRC also, for a DD215, an am!endment to a DD214, though you might well need to submit a Dr Form 149 to do it, there are attorneys who deal with correction board staff, it can take a good deal of time, however, NPRC and the Congress offices I think are honestly, your nest chance, tell the Congress offices which recruiter you're speaking with, which recruiting group teyre with, you might want to tell NPRC that also, hope that helps, if you'd wanna chat more, I'm Jere, OK?

Pardon the typos, I'm on a querulous tablet with a somewhat problematic keyboard, I'm afraid hopefully, the gist was clear enough....

If you received an automatic promotion to E4 there do not have to be orders issued. When you were discharged, it should have your rank on your DD214. If it is on your 214, there shouldn’t be a need for promotion orders. I hope this helps, good luck to you.

Is it correct that you were promoted to SPC on yiur 4 years of active duty, and your DD214 listed your rank as PFC?

Understood.
When you get back in save every promotion, award, travel, and any other order or evaluation you receive, it'll pay off. You've had good advice on how to get the orders. I wish you the best of luck.
