Do your part and reach out to your battle buddies, shipmates, wingmen, friend(s). It's saddening that we are constantly discussing this topic on here - mental illness is real and it's claiming to many lives. We can't wait for the government/VA and other bureaucratic institutions to get it right - we need to be the first line responders to our friends in need.

I did not personally know MAJ Benny Romero - but he is a member of the Civil Affairs Regiment and we are a small, tight knit community - so his loss is felt throughout the CA and SOF community. If you are a veteran and you need someone to talk to, but don't know who to call - message me, give me your # and I'll call you - regardless of rank.

Gaining ground much like the ALS Ice Bucket challenge is what is being called Buddy 22, scheduled for 22 October to raise awareness and attempt to stem the tide of suicides. Call a buddy today, make sure they're OK. Really OK. Know where and how to get help

I find that the only "safe" place is the VA Hospital. I was diagnosed in 2012, had I known sooner what was going on, I don't think I'd be on wife #4. She' really been a life saver and has lasted 15 years through all my crap and bull s@it.
Even with all of its problems, the VA is trying to get my head on straight. God bless them.
You're absolutely correct LTC (Join to see) and Capt Christopher Mueller as my mother used to say, "who else do you have of not your family." The VA and several Vets that I've bared my soul to are my family that also includes the members here on RP. I hope that anyone that reads this, realizes that they have to reach out to that buddy, he needs their trust and ear. God bless. ;-/

Join nearly 2 million former and current members of the US military, just like you.
