I've recently begun the transition to civilian trucking. I would like to know if anyone has opinions on working for and dealing with the following freight companies:
Roehl
Swift
Melton
Thank you for your input.

Stay away from Swift! I got a job with Old Dominion Freight Line straight out of truck driving school after I retired! Very good LTL company, been around about 80 yrs and is not union! I've been here almost 4 yrs and had a pay raise every year! Good luck and congrats on your retirement!

Here at Old Dominion Freight Line we only pull double 28 ft trailers. We only go from OD terminals to OD terminals, and only hook and un hook trailers, no unloading. We also have team drivers if you want to go long haul. It's worth checking out!

In the end they are all in the same. Its just a personal preference. Sure Wished I Finished Training (Swift) I have heard numerous things about them going under, people having issues getting home and in contact with their dispatches. Haven't heard much of Roehl drivers and melton either. I am a I.C Independent Contractor for Schneider. It has it pros and cons as well but at the end of the day I feel comfortable with their extreme account when it comes to safety.

Sure Wish I had a Fast Truck (SWIFT), the butt of every trucking joke. I am an owner operator at Crete Carrier Corporation and love it.
