I have been scrolling through the discussions and see a whole lot of folks wanting to know how to check email here, at home, on phone, get a CAC to work at home etc etc. so the piece of advice is LET IT GO it will be there tomorrow. If something important comes up your duty or NCOs will give you a call.

Great advice for active duty folks, but Guard and Reserve members are expected to have access to systems and email outside of our one weekend a month. Not being able to get your CAC to work can make it nearly impossible to fulfill your duties.

LTC Stoneking, I would love to do that, but I am not sure my MacBook knows what IE is.

Thankfully my unit is only 15 minutes from my home, but its still in the opposite direction of work.

I can get everything but Enterprise Email to work from home.. even after I downgraded my IE and supporting software to what it was like 8 years ago Enterprise still says no.

I know some of you live a good ways away from your units. Now the guard has a program called Distance Learning Classroom. In Indiana they are spread throughout the state to make things easier for soldiers. I am a Site Administrator for the Evansville Armory. We allow all forms of military Monday thru Friday normal business hours at no cost to them or the units. I know it can still be a pain if you do not live close to the area or work during that time period. But at least its something else that may possibly help.

SSG (Join to see) - I've been dealing a lot with soldiers having the issue of not being able to access enterprise. Most people are attempting to access through AKO. A lot of the shortcuts at the top of the page are not working or completely disappear. the http://stlm...etc... does not work for some versions of IE. Try using web.mail.mil. MAKE SURE YOUR CAC IS IN YOUR CARD READER BEFORE GOING TO THE SITE. If you have seen that window that says "the big logout" or whatnot, you have to close all browsers and reopen which can be a pain. Once that screen pops up it blocks you from using your credentials.

Being able to use your CAC card is more than just checking email. Even though AKO is such a headache to use, there are features that can't be accessed without a CAC card. MyPay also can use a CAC card. Sometimes, it's just easier to check or send an email or two from the house. I usually like to check emails from the house when getting ready to come back from leave, pass or a long weekend.

So, for those that would like to do it, but are unaware how, follow this link:
https://militarycac.com/

It's an easier process than when I did it 5-6 years ago, but it will still require some navigation skills to complete it.

SFC I understand that the CAC can be used to access other sites and to get some stuff done. Even so I feel that most of this stuff can be done during "normal working hours" and doesn't need to infringe on our "personal time". As I said in my original post I do believe that there are reasons and times that yo umay need to do some work from home but most of the time it can be left until later.

I have found (by the way of a PFC while deployed) that chrome solved all my issues. Now there are other issues that I have with EE Mail because I can never find it to log in. Save in book marks you said. well that always doesn't work because it just don't. Not computer savvy. have to search it every time and take 50 tries to get the right web site.

But chrome even works for SSD and other things. You will have to authorize pop ups for the ALMS but it runs great now. I tried the CaC site. It has the wrong info for window 8, upload the 8.1 update and the google chrome and you will rock and role! You try it. You Like it, I promise. lol
