I have an AGR buddy who is only in his fourth or fifth year of AGR service and had been offered a job with the U.S. Marshals Service. He'd previously worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He was promoted to E8 on his first look as an AGR and only has 6 years of AFS with deployments. The bottom line is he could retire in five or six years with the Feds, buying his military years, versus 14 years waiting for 20 AFS. He was told that his position (retention) was too important. Thoughts?

MSG you should know that the service does not have to do anything good for anyone, that the good of the service will always come 1st.

The service is as good as you need it. This you don't have a choice tactic, mentality is not a " All volunteer service".
