Words cannot express how horrifying I find these persistent reports of abuse and neglect.

I suppose the next question is what can and/or should we do about this awful problem?

You ask what we can do about it?

Probably the most important thing we can do is stay connected to those veterans that have served and provided us the freedoms we enjoy today, and make sure they have our voice as well! You see, when we keep them connected, we keep their service relevant.

This story is really about neglecting the entire veteran population! And that neglect is inexcusable, at every level!

Ok; I don't know the whole story but I was recently in a VA run hospital in Portland, Oregon and damn near dead from kidney failure and a whole list of problems on top of that. I am here today because of the finest care I have ever gotten in ANY hospital. To the person who stated that the VA was run by garbage I say this "NUTS". I agree an investigation needs to be held, but don't condemn an entire system (flawed though it may be at times) because of one office.

Bad doesn't even begin to cover it, lets start with criminal misconduct and move on to negligent homicide. But investigate first to make sure they get the right people who commited the atrocious acts.

I've been in the VA hospital in Portland, OR and it's a very good hospital. I can't speak to other VA hospitals but I've heard some are pretty piss poor.

And this is why we need to continue to taking care of each other, even after we take the uniform off.  We are all a band of brothers and sisters.  No one else wants to take care of us and no one else understands.

This the worse possible news a VET can hear. A lot depend on the VA and we are being weeded out. Sounds like pick and choose who lives or dies.
