Prayers from Tucson. Let's hope they only had to PL (precautionary landing) and are out of radio contact. Transponders (IFF) in that mountainous terrain have extremely limited range. Semper Fi, Marines.

It crashed......flying is dangerous, the terrain and circumstances in Nepal make it even more so.

- The initial report is always wrong.
- Unfortunately I think this is a case where the initial report is accurate.
- Best case is that the chopper had a forced landing for which all personnel are fine but unable to communicate to base.
- Worst case is that the chopper went down hard and no one walked away.
- Don't know what we don't know at this point.

Worst case scenario is a Class A mishap with loss of crew and aircraft. The cause? Flying is dangerous. Flying around mountains with shifting winds and crazy wind sheers is dangerous. Engines quit sometimes. I hope they survived the encounter.
