Note: I would like to keep this discussion separate from using a military photo for a normal social media website. I'm aiming it more towards the dating websites/dating applications for mobile phones.

With the explosion in online dating websites within the last decade and numerous Christian Mingle commercials I've seen, a lot of people nowadays are meeting others online through date matching websites.

Now with the appropriate crowd to talk about it with, I now ask the Rallypoint community on what their opinion in regards to using a military photo as their "main picture" on these dating websites.

I'm kind of neutral and see it more as a personal safety issue, because you're exposing yourself online to other strangers with your identity. However, I don't frown upon it in a sense of trying to make a good first impression to someone you may want to go on a date with.

Due to the personal safety issue I sensed, I didn't put a military photo up of me on this app called "Tinder," which is a date/friend matching app for the iPhone/Android. I also didn't mention that I was in the military at all. I have seen others on the app though use their military photos.

What's your opinion?
