So I recently moved to Texas from California - what paperwork do I need to fill out from the Texas side to go back to school and have a local rep?

If it's from the GI Bill side, you can contact the school or program you want to attend and they help get you started. You can also use the GI Bill Comparison Tool - https://www.va.gov/education/gi-bill-comparison-tool to find an approved program. When you're ready to apply, please use the following - https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/

I retired from the Coast Guard in 2007. Since then I taught Navy JROTC for 14 years and CG JROTC for 1 year. I did not use any of my Post 9/11 GI Bill educational benefits. I am aware of the Colmery "Forever GI Bill" and I would like to transfer my unused benefit to my daughter when I anticipate her going to college in August of 2024. My questions are: is there a way that I can retain my GI Bill benefits past the 15 year expiration date; can I transfer my benefit to her and how can I appeal?

Hello Jonathan. To be eligible for transfer benefits, you must make the request with the Department of Defense (DoD) prior to your release from active duty. VA does not have the authority to transfer benefits, as it is part of a retention tool by DoD. You would need to speak to a representative from your service component to determine how to appeal this process.

Hello Celestea, I am sorry to hear about your negative experience. I encourage you to use our GI Bill Comparison tool to find a more suitable school. https://www.va.gov/education/gi-bill-comparison-tool/ The tool also includes student feedback and any cautionary warnings for each school. If you feel your school has violated VA's Principles of Excellence, you can report it here: https://www.va.gov/education/submit-school-feedback/introduction

I have been out of the Military since 1966 and only use my GI bill for a couple of classes. Have I no chance of getting any benefits now?

I'm a Vietnam vet and got out of the Navy in 1972. Has my GI Bill towards education expired?

Montgomery GI Bill benefits expire 10 years after your release from active duty, therefore your benefits would have expired in 1982. Thank you for your question and your service.

Are there anymore VA Education Benefits for someone who has used up arguably all of the GI Bill? I have used much of the GI Bill but never finished using it in its entirety. The 10-Year Delimiting Date had arrived before I could finish college.

If you are unemployed or working in an unsuitable job (one that aggravates your service connected disabilities) and have a service-connected disability that limits your ability to work or prevents you from working, Veteran Readiness and Employment (formerly called Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) may be able to help. https://www.va.gov/careers-employment/vocational-rehabilitation/eligibility/

I'm entering a certificate program at the local community college that charges tuition for attendance. I have use all of my GI Bill benefits, what additional financial support does the VA make available for veterans such as myself? I'm 68 years old and I need to upgrade my skill set to gain employment.
