As much as I like to bash on the VA for their policies and such, I can't really lay this one on them. This is just another one of those stories about the personnel in the building being bone-heads and not doing end-of-day checks and such.

McDaniel rep, others locked in courthouse
An official investigation has been opened into three people who were found locked in the Hinds County Courthouse hours after it was closed by election officials Tuesday after returns had been counted in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate.

Wow is all I can say!! However, I did mess with my First Sergeant who works for the VA and asked him why this happen since he was gone and he about went nuts for a moment.

It is a matter of pin-pointing responsibility. We had a fellow die in Japan in the office. No one looked for him over the weekend...he was still sitting at his desk on Monday. Sad.

Wow. All I can say is wow.
From my point of view I see two oops issues here.
1. The clinic. Security, senior staff and the individual responsible for the room the veteran was in - all total dumba$$3$.
2. The veteran. When does personal responsibility start? If I haven't been seen by someone within an hour after I'm in a room - I'm asking questions and making noise. This veteran, as much as it pains me to say it...has to join the club - stupid is as stupid does.

That does not surprise me. Supposedly they have so much money, just cannot hire enough. What upsets me the most though is that people get bonuses for not being competent, having some lie, and then lashing out at whistle-blowers. Fix the system, take back the bonuses! In fact take away the possibility of bonuses. We are government employees and we do not get bonuses for doing well. I also feel bad for those who are great and doing great in the VA system and seem to be getting a bad name from these scandals. I know a few of them and it just breaks their heart as much as it does ours.

I know personally when I go to the VA here in San Antonio, I constantly see security when I first walk in and then as I am walking to the clinic where my appt is I run into even more security officers. If that hospital is like the one here in SA, it's sad and just so hard to believe that this really happened.

All I have to say is at least it wasn't here in phoenix ... We can't handle anymore damn issues ... I moved from TN here and had no issues till I came here. Not sure what is going on but heads rolled and finally shit is getting done
