I'm a disabled Veteran, located in Monteagle, Tennessee. I am needing some help with building a 16x16 block foundation for a tiny home to be set on. Just needing help with the construction of the block foundation, if anyone could help me, I would be so grateful! Christina S [login to see] .

I am an Army veteran. I volunteer with non-profit organizations such as Hire Heroes USA, Veterati and Heroes Linked helping the military, veterans and their spouse with advising and mentorship to be prepared for the corporate world. It has been very fulfilling to give back to the military community and to help them be successful in their career.

I volunteered for the draft in 1969. That was enough volunteering for me. Although I helped in the Knights of Columbus and served on my Union's e board and other things but the term volunteering scares the hell out of me.

I've been volunteering since I retired 1 Feb 2012 between 30-40 hours a week. Basically, I'm a full-time volunteer. Volunteer at a Council on Aging, Christian Services (cook/serve 2 hot meals a day to anyone in need 364 days a year), Regional Hospice with their "We Honor Veterans" program (I get to wear my Service Dress every time we visit a Veteran), Municipal Auditorium as an usher for shows/events, multiple festivals, disaster relief/recovery from cooking teams, mud-outs, rebuilding etc., the local Sports Commission. Just got back from New Orleans where I supported the Men's Final Four tournament's events leading up to and including the Final Four.
I am a retired Army Nurse Corps Officer. I volunteer by donating my blood to the Red Cross. I am a Oregon Medical Reserve Corps volunteer currently doing remote provider on call for immunization clinics all over Oregon. I volunteer with the Girl Scouts. I also volunteer with Trail Keepers of Oregon.

My life and career is centered around assisting veterans in all aspects that I can from helping to locate affordable housing to referring them to the agencies and individuals who can help with claims and such. We partner with various agencies who provide the same and more extensive services throughout our area. I am constantly taking courses to increase my knowledge and ability to assist my fellow veterans. This includes Veterans Mental Health First Aid to helping them enroll in the HUD VASH program. Veteran Transitional Housing is a huge component of our services as well. I am also a member of the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans and attend their annual conferences each year so as to interface with other service providers throughout the country. Serving my fellow veterans is the joy of my life.

After working for Moorhead schools as a para professional for over 20 years I retired, because I could. I then for the next 2 years volunteered in the STEM class. There was a real need. 32 student computers, 32 6th graders working with professional engineering software program. I decided to make a video of the entire curriculum and put it on a flash drive. One part was new that even the teachers did not know how to do, so he learned it at the same time students did. When not helping with the 6th grade class I would help with the 8th grade class making CO2 racing cars.

I have spent the last 8-9 years volunteering in emergency communications in the panhandle of Florida. As anybody closely associated with the "sunshine state" knows, we are subject to severe weather all year long. Tornados can pop up with other forms of severe weather all year, while hurricanes are pretty much common June through November-December timeframe. When these tragedies take place. Cell phone usage can be severely affected to pretty much non-existent. We found that out really quick in Bay-St. Louis, Mississippi during hurricane Katrina. Situations like this happen and that is where HAM Radio steps in to save the day. HAM Radio is a growing and evolving hobby that can quickly transform one's skills from the various discipline areas (AM, FM, Voice, CW, Data just to mention a few) into a serious communicator that ties various state, federal and NGO entities together to move resources and get help where it is needed most. This past year, I have taken an interest in helping state and county emergency management work around some issues with radio wave propagation. When I was on active duty in the Marines, our unit (9th Communications Bn IMEF) did some research and development training with some "homebrew" antennas. The purpose of which was to eliminate dead zones. I am taking that experience to the local and regional level to help State Emergency Management stay in direct contact with every square foot of an area that is affected by severe weather.
