I was just curious...was anyone on here ever USPHS inactive reserve, while their inactive reserve program, which ingather has since been disabamded, while it was in existence? I've often seen sites about it, and have always wondered why it was never recreated...I've apsomwondered whynUSPHS, which has a provision for warrants in its statute, never sought to !take use of them....

Almost, LOL, but I guess that doesn't count. I was in touch with CC office after I separated (1985) and entertained inactive reserve. Didn't happen, but it seemed like it was an alternative. My understanding, at least then, was that as compared to USA/USN/USAF, the PHS CC post-service reserve was not required after separation. Not sure if it was different for Regular Corps officers...I was Reserve Officer (active). WB

I follow...I'd just wondered who on here might've known about it at all, and/or been involved with it. Before my total perm disability, while I'd been doing my allied-health clinical doctorate (we shut my license several years ago because of all that), one of the clinical attendings I'd rotated under had been an active-duty USPHS O-6, one of only three at that level I'd ever run across in any service...God knows, I'd wanted to go USPHS, I also chatted with an internist who'd done USPHS Inactive Reserve, as well as the state defense force (SDF) in NY, called the NY Guard (NYG)...it just never happened, as I became too ill, unfortunately, however, I'd always thought their having such an Inactive Reserve to begin with was certainly a good idea, I could never quite comprehend why it was apparently eventually abolished...I added a link on here about the USPHS Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), our dentist, who was NYG then went ARNG (I'd suggested NYG to him, he actually found that useful, which I of course found gratifying), suggested my going with them, I'd still care to if I ever might be able, though it's rather involved in my case, I'll try to send another related link in a couple of munites you also might find of possible interest, if you'd care to chat further, I'd of course be most interested, many thanks....

I'd looked at this also, and, being asd I'd seen you were listed as USPHS, I gather possibly attached to USCG, just didn't know if you knew of it, I expected you might, certainly, as with the MRC, in my case, the whole disability thing quite complicates matters, however, I'd gathered USCG AUX apparently lets clinicians with active licenses help actually treat patients at USCG facilities, at least from what I'd looked into of the whole program described here, thus far....
