Has anyone seen the story out of Virginia about 2LT Caron Nazario. I'm looking for some feedback on his actions and the police reactions. Is this acceptable conduct for an officer in the US Military Has anyone else had this kind of interaction?

The police officers were rightfully disciplined or discharged but that is not the questio. The Military Officers behavior was inappropriate.. he ignored legal directions and sought to seek preferential difference based solely on his uniform.

This commentator makes no sense, he's basically saying not to question authority when sometimes you have to. Why do you think there was the Nazi trials? Because they didn't question authority when there was unlawful orders given. I've been in a similar situation as the Lt in this video in Miami when I was approached by officer around 8pm in the evening just standing on Ocean Drive talking to my friend which happens to be white. The officers gave me no indication they were law enforcement, they did not turn on their lights when they pull in their marked vehicle up when they approached us, nor did they identify themselves as Police officers. If you ever been to South Beach Miami, the officers wear a polo shit without shiny badges so from a far you can't tell if they are Police officers. When they approached me they immediately accused me of throwing drugs which they were certain they say, however I was standing peacefully drinking a water. While they were making their accusations, one of the officers grabbed me and I immediately pushed him off as I didn't know that he was an officer of the law since both did not identify themselves. Once I pushed him off of me, they put me in handcuffs as I was apprehensive to the situation.

Everything happened in a matter of seconds, they asked for my ID then started asking me questions about who I was and what I was doing in Miami. I answer their questions even though they were treating me like I was a criminal. I was pissed off and told the officer to arrest as I was on order for the Air National Guard which they would of had to contact my XO to explain why they detained an Air Force NCO that was peacefully minding my business when they decided to roll up on my friend and I without properly addressing they were officers of the law before they proceeded to search us. It was a shameful moment as it was Veterans Day and my friend and I served together on Active Duty Air Force a few years back. I'm still traumatized from the situation, so I totally understand the Lt in the video when he states that he's serving his country and how is his country serving him, like a criminal.

Sorry this happened to you... But comparing to Nazi oppression is a stretch. And I don't think it was an advocation for not questioning authority. This person made his interaction way worse by his action.

SSG(P) (Join to see) - Nope. The Lt did what a worried minority should always do. Get to a lit area and make sure there are witnesses. He did not elude, he simply continued to where he felt safe.

What, in your opinion SSG(P) (Join to see) did the Soldier do that was wrong if anything? I saw him pulled over for something so very minor that I can not understand why he was pulled over, and further why the police officers drew their weapons or OC Sprayed the Soldier.
I am very much Pro-Police, however with that being said, too many Police Officers have the attitude that they do not need to explain what and why they do what they do. It is that attitude of refusal to De-escalate that causes so many of the problems. Handcuffing a commissioned officer for refusing to get out of a vehicle, with weapons drawn on him for a reason that the police did not explain? No Sir, that Soldier reacted way better than I would have.

-SSG Roger Ayscue This is the best breakdown of the stop I have found. Its a bit long but it very through, and It is very much my opinion that this officer should be released for conduct unbecoming

(conduct unbecoming an officer if you performed—or failed to perform—an act which, under the circumstances at the time, showed you to be dishonest, indecent, lawless, cruel, or lacking in certain moral standards.)

SSG(P) (Join to see) - Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that you're a racist? Chief fired the scumbag cop as soon as the video went public.

Do what they tell you to do on the side of the road. You can argue your case in court or file a complaint with police administration after you leave the scene.

IMO both sides were behaving unprofessionally. Each of us should choose to be the one that behaves like a professional adult...if we all did that there would be no reason for either side to resort to violence when simple traffic stops are made.

Or we could do like most of the civilized world and send tickets for minor infractions in the mail to the person in whose name the vehicle is registered. The police pull them over only if they're driving dangerously--excessive speeding (like 100 in a 65) or weaving, etc. This allows the police to concentrate on criminals.

Now, if the vehicle is speeding and is known to be driven by a drug dealer or burglar, they'll pull it over and search it before writing the ticket.

I remember getting pulled over for no front plate. Except the cop was a 1/4 mile behind me when he hit his lights. I stopped (deliberately) directly under a street light. He told me why he was pulling me over. Except the real reason was because my car had been parked in front of a bar.

Gave me a ton of sobriety tests that I passed. I had a steak, baked potato, ice water, and one single beer. All during the stop he kept responding "negative" on his radio and "out with a probable DUI."

After a few minutes, an off-duty cop who I knew pulled up and told him to cut the crap and get his ass over to the supermarket. Come to find out he was hassling me while multiple stabbing victims were in a parking lot less than a mile away.

From what was shown in the video, those cops were wrong on about every level, and one was way over the top (guessing he's the fired one)..

That said, since when do officers 'in uniform' wear partial beards? (wasn't religious, wasn't medical for razor bumps.. so what's going on in that command?)

Staff Sergeant - why is this even a question? What about this officer's conduct would even suggest that his conduct was somehow inappropriate. He handled himself professionally through all aspects of this interaction despite the unprofessional manner in which he was treated.

What you should be asking is 'is this acceptable conduct for any American" LT Nazario didn't give up his rights under the U.S. Constitution and bill of rights when he joined the military. guns pulled because the cop couldn't see the temporary plate Fucking Really?. I know what people are gonna say 'he didn't know if there were other people in the car with guns' my response to that is they didn't know if they were having a birthday party either but he didn't walk up with party plates and sporks

From what I saw in the video the ones and the only ones in the wrong are the police all three of them and I am even talking about the Chief. There was no reason for the police to do any of what they did. And I do not blame the military guy for going to a lighted area and turning on his phone camera. They may have killed him if he would not have stopped where he did.
All of this because there was not plates on the vehicle. Yes the windows were tinted but the police could have been shinning the light where the temp lic. is supposed to be and they would have very likely at least seen the yellow of the temp lic. And they never once answered any of his questions. And when they saw the military uniform they should have been a little more decent in my opinion. And when they came up on him the 2nd officer should have checked the back for a temp. lic and that would have ended this or given them the question where is the temp tag.
The one cop that said he had been in the military sure didn't act like it.
