This means we carry out the orders if those appointed over us, so long those orders are "lawful" under the Consitution.

To me the Oath goes WAY beyond just "support and defend..." . I personally feel it means that I am obligated to vote, to give an ear full to the political dingbats in my district and state, Am required to LEARN about issues of the "day" by being informed to the extent possible, Question with boldness when you have an issue with anything that could undermine what we all took the oath to defend in the first place, and for gods sake, NOT taking up arms against your fellow Americans while denying the Constitutional rights of us all, no matter what the order is. God given rights are non negotiable. And neither is the Constitution being the supreme law of the land. I took my oath Seriously then, and I do now! This is my take and some will dis agree with me I am sure. That's ok. My gut check verifies I am doing right.

The way the Oath is worded you swear to uphold an idea before supporting any person. To me that means that the Constitution takes precidence over any order I might receive, from the President on down. With that also comes a responsibility to study and understand the Constitution on what it really means through research and talking to SME's. I understand that as a Service Member I might not enjoy all the rights and liberties granted through the Constitution while I serve, but I will defend the rights of all United States Citizens againt any person or organization that seeks to take those rights away regardless of my personal beleifs or opinions. And I won't give any orders to my guys that would violate rights granted by the Constitution.

I'm shocked 25% selected "Obey the orders of the President and the officers regardless of the Constitution?"

I wonder if they misread it. If not I'd love to hear their explanation.

Those that voted represent a small sampling. Anecdotally, I think it is pretty close to the reality.
