We have technology to rule the world but fail at protecting our own borders from terrorism and illegal immigrant. Why?

Are we living in the dark ages that we need permission from "a ruler" to protect from intruders into our country? Are we going to build a castle wall to block Mexico? They can still go to Canada then come back down. Are we going to build another wall for the Canadian-Mexican invasion? I say let their employers fill out their workers information, the government just take a higher percentage of their wage since they aren't legal citizens. Make it a profitable choice to be legal citizens or charge employers higher fines for illegal immigrants. If the government just gives them aid for not finding work, we are the fools.

If you want to stop illegal immigration, the best way to do it is with a soft wall.
Go after the employers with fines scalable by number of employees on the payroll, but don't stop there. Fine the hiring managers that knowingly hire illegals in order to get cheaper wages.
For example, Company A, a meat-packing plant, is fount to have 18 illegal workers among 200.
Fine the company $18,000, and the hiring manger(s) $1,800.
A smaller company, like a orange farm, has 25 illegal among 60 employees. They get fined $5,000 and the hiring manager $2,500.
I'll bet the problem gets solved real quick when the hiring guys get hit in the pocketbook.
The companion part of my plan would be to have a worker's permit of sorts that you have to register to get... and pay taxes. When the time is up - say 5 years or so - you go home and reapply or have taken the steps necessary to become a legal resident or citizen.
Fair. Even-handed. And solves the problem.
Vote for me... I'll freaking fix it.

SSG Matthew Hess - That's why I'd have a legal work permit. The issue was never that people want to come to America. My ancestors did, as did yours. At issue is the sub-culture of lawlessness, of taking more than you put in, of working in the shadows for a pittance. This would get remedied if it was no longer profitable to be the way it is.

An addition to your idea.. The mgt would get done at work and go to jail after work.. and delivered back wearing tethers . The illegals would need to see those that hired them on the same block . The only difference is the bosses go back and forth to work every day . They can pay their fine that way or pay it all and be. Incarcerated for a full term..

For example; every person would take their papers proving citizenship to the state employment agency to have it “On Record” and receive their work certificate. Even those that decide to enlist in the military would first go to their State Employmdnt office and register to work. After all being in Military is a job. The citizen takes their permit to work with them when enlisting they may still need proof of citizen ship anyway.. ~299417:1SG (Verify To See)] I had retired from the AF and while at my base I had worked part time in the NCO and Officer clubs as a Chef.. I had my Applied Sci. Degree inas a Chef .. (my Cmdr Explained it for me it would be instrumental in maintaining security when deploying... all I would have to notify N.A.F.(non approp. Funds office )I was being deployed and hold my job until I returned. It’s better than me being employed at a civ. Company .. because word gets out an employee is deploying s’where and other people that do not have the need to know.. know.
I was able to jump a list of 20 or so on the list..that were not Military or dependents.. Since N.A.F. Was not Civil Service the applicants didn’t have a say.. (At will employee) so I worked at The clubs for about 3 years.. when they had a lay-off .. my job was protected in the way of civil service is I was last to be laid off.. there was one and some complained I already had a secure job(AF) so I should be first to get laid off.. Anyway, I was not and continued working... I had gone off base and took a resume a good Senior NCO Supervisor of mine had helped me compose to a major Hotel chain I had my Military Food handler card /train’g certificate translated to a civilian card and also had other copies for later use.. So I got some months in before I egressed from the AF. I worked after until I had a total of 7 months and I could transfer with my little bit of seniority to a hotel near my home. I did that .. but I had failed to report to MI-works even though I had registered with the state of Va. they had an Aux. Station at Civ. Personnel(HR) They faxed all my stuff to Mi-works.. so, I thought I was in good.. not quite.. I still had to physically present myself.. go over, initial again everything I initialed already.. then go to work .. I was a transfer not a new hire. Mi-works didn’t see it that way.. They asked my Mi employer did somebody lose a job or a chance to be hired because of my transfer..? They admitted a new priospective lost out but he had only reached the 1st step : sub- muting a application for review.
Two or 3 others who followed me got jobs . But I didn’t affect 2 because they were maintenance (HVAC) I only partly affected one because I was a transfer, not new.
The Social Justice Warriors were spouting tears for the other fella because that prospective had gone through a welfare-to-work train’g Program... at a local County Comm Col. That had a Culinary program.
I made a suggestion.to them about their hotel in Grand Rapids, Mi. Maybe they could look on their computer and see if that hotel had openings.. see if they could save a space.. So.. they did his app and forwarded it. He got out there.. He got a job but had to do apprenticeship time before getting a junior chef position. Until he completed it he’d be a ‘line cook hire’. Being a line cook and line-backer(a grunt) .. it was a start !
My Senior Chef and The Catering Mgt. gave me some credit for helping them stay in good relations with Mi-works. .. Why’d you do that? Because I thought he needed a hand up . I needed a hand up some time back and I got it.. I’m paying forward, Chef .. my gesture endeared me to them.. later a temp. late Shift Chef position opened up while the Chef that held it went on a holiday vacay for a couple weeks. It was offered to me and I took it. I had two s’times 3 line cooks assisting me.. I was the night super making sure it was done right, looked right.. I had other things to do..! I had a couple workers getting prep done for next morning.. exec brunch . The night chef came back a week early and wanted his shift back and they put him back covering another kitchen group doing the bar lunches.. while their Chef leader was gone.. eventually I was back to my junior Chef position pushing a rising apprentice back a few notches
And everything was hunky-dory
Once again in the neighborhood.
I continued moving around spelling people for a week and the rising aprentice got to go forward and play team leader(and all that counted toward when he completed his apprenticeship). he had about another year to go.. maybe that young man can get 7 months in and request a transfer back when / if positions become available.. maybe not because he’d still be an apprentice.. I had my time done.. was why I could transfer.. MI-Works wasn’t exactly happy(I surmised my being a Veteran had NO significance ) what mellowed it out was him getting to go to the west side of the state and work in Grand Rapids. I had an interaction with a local MI-worker at a local eatery.. Somehow he recalled me dealing with his branch office.. He said they (MI-Works) at first thought I should of gone to Grand Rapids.. I informed him it wasn’t a
Apprentice position.. I got approved in VA. For it. I finished my lunch after moving down the counter and went and paid and departed .. The good thing about Mi-Works even though associated with the state they are NOT Civil Service.. it gives them some independence (such as operating on state holidays .. servicing unemployed workers.). But they lose certain privileges.. they have to refer penalties for adjudicating actually they could do limited before independence. Now all penalties are adjudicated at the Lansing HQ. The guy at the local office was just a clerk.. Soi could get away with saying a few things ..
even though I did not... just to make sure.. never know the station mgr may feel her snoflake employee’s feelings may have been injured.. and worthy of referring upstairs..
i’d Had a few other nice jobs where I’d been able to go from one job to another with only a few days off, a week off to get anything In order..
I think it went so smoothly why bother over it.. (somebody was saving time and expense being smart like that.keeping their schnozz out of my business...
