We just came down on orders for Korea. His DD5434 says his gaining installation is 8th Personnel Command. But email says 0019 CS REPL. Help?

8th Personnel Command is Camp Humphreys. 0019 CS REPL is 19th down in Daegu in Area IV. So we are mildly confused on where we are going.

A lot of times when a SM receives orders, the unit listed is different from the one they actually end up going to. Such as is the case with your husband.
8th Personnel command is the designated unit that overseas staffing and manning needs in terms of raw personnel for Korea. A persons orders, unless otherwise specified will list this as the gaining installation no matter where they are headed in Korea. Then it breaks it down further within 8th P Com ie 0019 CS REPL... this is a replacement unit that further refines exactly where the SM is going withing their sphere of control in Korea.
IT just means that there are likely multiple openings for an 88M position in Korea, thus the lack of specificity as they don't know just yet exactly where he is going, let alone the exact gaining unit.

Okay! So 8th Personnel Command is just the all on all in processing station. So his actual gaining installation is Camp Henry which is 0019 CS REPL INBOUND?

Chelsea Armstrong - No. 8th Personnel is like the master replacement command for all of Korea. 0019 CS REPL is like a replacement brigade or some such. That would be his in processing for a specific area of Korea and from there he would go on to his actual unit of assignment. The Army is a bit complicated but it all works out in the end.
I've never actually been sent to Korea so all I have to draw on is my several assignments to Europe. Orders would come down and you would be assigned to some VII Corps, then from there you would be broken down to a staffing unit in a specific area of VII Corps, then on further down until you got to your actual unit of actual assignment. It's why orders that come down have so many unit headers ir VII Corps, 8th Army, 5th Artillery Reg, 116th Artillery BDE, 3rd Battalion, Bravo Company.

That is basically 8th Army which is the top army command that overseas all army personnel on Korea. His sponsor should be at the unit he is going to at Camp Henry. He will go to one place to in process with everyone else than bus to his camp. Chelsea Armstrong

I have not been to Korea, but I do believe the 8th CS REPL is an in process center for those entering the theater. The 8th Army is the major army command in Korea, so you will go to the 8th Army in process center.

Everyone goes to the same inprocessing center yes. However your orders will say which subordinate unit you are headed to ( not down to company level. I think the issue here is the spondor put one unit for the 5434 and a different one fof the welcome letter. Really the way tl figure this out is to reach out to them.

He can go anywhere in Korea. He must first elect to go on a command sponsored tour otherwise he’ll go unaccompanied. What is his report date?

His report date says November 10th. The Levy brief is at the end of this month, his CoC said we cant even start the Command Sponsorship without going to the Levy first.

He can contact levy to at least let them know he’s electing to go command sponsored. Also to get ahead of the process, you can schedule you an appointment now to get an EFMP Screening done. When you go to the appointment please take DA Form 5888 (you can google it, print, fill out your portion, and have the provider at the appointment to complete their portion. That’s the part that takes the longest because right now it’s high peak PCS season. He will not be able to apply for command sponsor without you have the screening completed and approved.
You do not have to wait for the levy briefing to get the screening done, if you do you’ll jeopardize being able to leave when he leaves. You’ll also need to apply for a no fee passport, again this cannot be done until your command sponsorship is approved, this is why it’s important to get the screening done ASAP....Chelsea Armstrong
