While watching the New Years Celebration at Times Square I saw a Marine PFC in his dress uniform there. I was a little surprised why you would ever do such a thing.<div><br></div><div>There are functions that you can't wear your uniforms to such as political events or to an extremist organization. I will admit that I did get married in my blues. But is there a time and place for it. I recall seeing video from the WWII era where all soldiers would wear their uniforms while on pass. Now we don't do that but some will still wear their dress uniform to events. I often tease my wife that I am going to wear mine to my sisters wedding because I refuse pay to rent a used tux for two hundred dollars. But I will get the tux to keep the wife happy, at the loss of my wallet.</div><div><br></div><div>Where have you seen military members wear their uniforms to in public? Did it seem professional and respectful for the occasion? The last question, how did it reflect on the military?</div><div><br></div><div>Just don't be like the Navy Seal that killed Bin Laden.</div><div><br></div><div>(I have heard that if you are going to military wedding and you out rank the groom or have more decorations than the groom you shouldn't wear the uniform as you don't want the groom to look any less compared to you.)</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div class="pta-link-card"><div class="pta-link-card-picture"><img src="http://t.fod4.com/c/8e464776e6/c480x270_custom_10436fc7852ae75711ac2de0a2594570_30678.jpg"></div><div class="pta-link-card-content"><div class="pta-link-card-title"><a target="_blank" href="http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/8e464776e6/the-navy-seal-who-killed-osama-bin-laden">The Navy Seal Who Killed Osama Bin Laden</a></div><div class="pta-link-card-description">with Rob Riggle, Funny Or Die</div></div><div style="clear:both"></div><div class="pta-box-hide"><i class="icon-remove"></i></div></div>

I recently graduated from college, and some kid was wearing his blues to his own graduation. I DO NOT understand why. To me, it only served the purpose of bringing attention to himself for no other reason than to...well..get noticed.

I would since I"m retired. Only for parades, reunions, or retired military functions. It's been quite a few years since I retired and I know the uniform has shrunk.

I wore my dress uniform to my Niece's wedding, my uncle's and my grandparents funerals. I also wore my Air Force Service Dress to my nephew's Army Basic/AIT graduation. They wore ACUs to the formal graduation dinner, I wore dress blues because that's what we do in the USAF.

Why bitch about this USMC was wearing his dress blues, he earned that right.
I went to a Sunday night dance that was held every Sunday night at the Holiday Inn here in Jeffersonville one night I was getting to pay the cover charge and was told that I had to remove my Navy Seabee cover, they said people did not like anyone to wear their caps in the dance, but if you was a wanted-be-cowboy and was wearing your cowboy hat that was OK with them, needless to say I told them to kiss my f*&%ing azz and left and I never went back to their f*&^in dance again (been going there for years).

I wear my ASU and foremally the greens all the time. I earned the right to wear the uniform the day I originally signed the dotted line.
It's not disrespectful by any stretch of the imagination.
I'm not worried about making myself a potential target either.
If they want me bad enough, they'll get me.
I'm proud of the 17 decorations I have and the 3 I'm owed(not wearing)
It's not about the ladies, it's about self respesct and commitment to something...in my case it's about upholding the constitution of the United States of America. It's about taking pride in your accomplishments and your dedication to duty.

I think marines are aloud to wear there blue bravos Charlie and deltas (c and d in the proper season) as well as there service alpha bravo and Charlie's ( b and c in the proper season) any time we want asking as the uniform dosnt look like trash and your acting right in uniform blue alphas are only for formal events like weddings and such. I'll have to look it up in the order to make sure though. That being said I think it's fine it military members want to wear there dress uniform out in public for holidays and special gatherings if they choose to shows there proud of what they've become how ever they need to make sure it fits right and isn't jacked up so they don't look stupid

Some places like "A" school, Infantry school, etc.... require personnel to wear uniforms in public for liberty until a certain time before they are allowed to wear civies in town for liberty. I remember my shop went to the Arizona Memorial wearing our dress whites a year after 9/11 and we had all kinds of remarks from people and wanted photos with us. Even after that ever time I went to Pearl Harbor I went on my whites to pay respect to the dead.
