There are quite a few maintenance oriented people on here. So I figure this could be a fun topic.

My top 3 are as follows:

1.) X Truck not ACU painted
This one came up right after making the transition to the UCP uniform

2.) X Engine makes loud noise when running
This one came from a new soldier that from what we could tell had never been around a diesel

3.) X Truck won't start
Common problem with people that forget that they need to have the truck in Neutral to start

Have any to add?

One of the dumbest ones I have seen during motor stables was "low air pressure in front left tire" I looked at the PSG and told him to get the Soldier to put some air in the tire. The best part was that this was in a logistics unit by one of our own motor pool mechanics. True story....

I used to a PLL clerk and a PLL NCOIC so I have ready several thousand. I remember one that read, "pull stick on heater control broke".

SSG Jason Hoadley One of my PVTs wrote, "Something is wrong with the engine but I'm not sure what it is." He was learning on how to fill one out and didn't ask the NCO while he was helping out the other crew. The NCO came back after a few minutes to correct that and point out I the TM how to look for deficiencies.

Being in FA we are always giving our Joes a hard time when we go out in the field for a LFX. Making them check stuff that isn't necessarily real.

6 months after a LFX we are back out for AT, as soon as we made it out to the field and we were operating I made the guys PMCS the vehicles, after reviewing the 2404 it read

"blinker fluid low" this used to always be the joke, "hey pvt snuffie go down the gun line and see if anyone has any blinker fluid were about out." So after questioning the guy about this he swears he found where the blinker fluid went...

Bolt Missing

I once got G2G for Good to Go instead of No New Faults

My favorite though was probably  "5th wheel missing" on a M925A2  5 Ton Cargo

Here's one I thought was hilarious. This was back in 1998 timeframe. My super soldier, whom I won't mention to protect his ego, writes "horn don't blow" on his 5988. We were never going to let him forget that.

That vague "oil leak" fault boils my blood still to this day....

Or "light bulb out"

I'll see if I can find a fresh one from earlier this month

An MI CPT wrote it up..

It said said something like

"Abnormal power train noise, could not start."
