I was lucky to be a movie extra in the 1998 HBO movie A Bright Shining Lie. This was the story of the John Paul Vann. The movie begins with him being buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
The movie studio recreated his burial at Arlington national cemetery substuting the Los Angeles National Cemetery.
In front of the casket, is a line of Officers in Dress Blues. I am the 3rd officer from the right with the short hair. Most of the people wearing the dress blues were civilians. There were a handful of former or current soldiers used for the rifle salute.

I was in two documentaries, but I was not the focus of them. They were both filmed in the jail where I work and I just happened to make it into a couple of scenes.

Awesome, you Just reminded me. In 2008, Admiral Mike Mullen came to our forward operating base with 60 minutes Tagging along. I did not get in the final view of the footage but I was there and I have it here. Admiral Mike Mullen was also very easy going and he was giving out his admirals coin and you could pose with him.
We also had most of our duffel bags stuck in connex box in Pakistan. He was able to order it to our forward operating base Farah in Western Afghanistan. It arrived a couple days later.

Yes. I was in some low budget dog movie that must have gone straight to video, and “Why do fools fall in Love?”, where I played a cop. I was supposed to be in “Independence Day”, but they got a bunch of NG guys and didn’t need me. Was supposed to be in a war movie that was filmed just across the border from San Diego, in Mexico (big name production which I forgot), but my short term (turned long) active duty orders came through three days before filming started.
Almost forgot, in Germany in the late seventies, our Combat Engineer company was training in a small German town (bought by the Germans for close combat training only) when we were informed that we would be in the background of some shots for a film. Loretta Swift (TV MASH) was in the scene. We only saw them from afar. And yes, combat engineers trained for fighting in the streets (at least we used to).

LTC (Join to see) I loved doing it met a lot of great people and had fun we were treated very well by the actors Stephen Lang who played General Picket would come into our camp after production was over and eat with us and sit around the campfire and chat with us just like a normal person he didn’t act like a$$ like some of the other actors

SPC James Neidig I worked in a Camera/film department while in college and I saw pictures of Tom.Selleck and other cast of Magnum P.I. signing autographs after the Star ceremony would stick around to sign autographs. Not the same as what you experienced but awesone to know!

LTC (Join to see) I was in Jeb Stuart’s Cavalry charge in the scene of the battle of bull run my living history unit was cavalry I had a great horse who was not afraid of hearing gunfire or cannon fire but he passed away in 2016 and I gave up living history shortly after and have not been near a horse since
