as an electronics tech there is some amazing tech out there but when it fails they no longer know what to do all the basic skills are lost making them useless and without any fallback

Always remember how it was done with paper and pencil. You might need that in the future. Sooner or later technology is going to be blacked out and most won't know how to do it old school.

I'm thinking drone aircraft on a carrier. Without pilots, the jet could be launched at great speed/Gs. Pilots safe in computer room flying the drone jets. Even possible for shorter carriers due to ultra fast launch, no need for long launch deck.? just guesssing.
