What advice do you have for a new recruit preparing for the Army's new APFT?

Start working on your upper body strength to prepare for the leg tuck as it’s the hardest event for most people. Some good exercises are lat pull downs, pull ups, scapula shrugs while hanging from a bar, and just practicing the grip and a pull up. I would also suggest practice walking fast with a 20 lb kettlebell in each arm for the sprint drag carry event. If you aren’t a weight lifter then you also should start working on how to do deadlifts properly.

Join the ACFT Facebook page. Great community for workout programs, answer questions, and gives tips on how to excel. Really outstanding resource.
