What advice do you have for someone putting together an 880A packet?

I was a prior 88K. In my journey to go active duty, I had to switch MOS'. Being an 880A, you will undoubtedly have one of the best jobs the army has to offer to warrant officers. As a WO1, you will either be the skipper on a LCU class vessel or a mate on an LSV or a large tug. The job is not physically demanding on its own but you will need to learn a LOT of maritime and navigational subjects (very long wobc). Your day to day will depend on your mission load but as the skipper, you are overall responsible for the safety and crew of your vessel. Any other questions you may have, feel free to reach out.

I can only speak to putting a warrant packet together- I am not a 880A. Put time and attention to detail into your packet. You are being selected to be a technical expert. Typo’s, poorly written bio’s, resumes, etc will kill your packet. ERB and your DA photo will matter. A majority of the board are not transporters. Your NCOER’s, regardless of how you think they read, the board will not know or understand. Thus they will look at the blocks. Have the senior warrant letter explain why after his review, he determined why you are best qualified to be a warrant. Your packet gets about 90 seconds to 3 minutes of viewing. Short time to make it through the cut line. Present the best you.
