What advice do you have for someone who wants to join the Army and become a sniper?

It is great to have plans and goals. I would suggest that you work hard in school to obtain the best education possible. Consider college as an option either before or after the military. I wish you the best on future challenges and adventures!

Get your body in shape. Stay the course. Keep your goal(s). Don't quit/never give up.

(Join to see) - And, never address an NCO as Sir/Ma'am. No harm done, and I understand that you said "Sir" because of your upbringing (which is all good). But for future self protection (once you get in the Army), never call an NCO Sir or Ma'am.

Oh God- 1. They are normally 11B or 18B series MOS. 2. You have to be selected by you command for a school slot. 3. You have to be an expert shot, repeatedly with your assigned wpn. AMTU use to run the school- they shoot in the Olympics and are the best shots in the Army. School is a bitch- fieldcraft normally flunks most ( hiding/moving without being seen), the shooting never ever gets any easier. It is not, fun nor glamorous , you fellow troops do not love you, you are normally a loner except with your team. They do not give pretty medals to snipers, and often commanders do not know how to use you. You learn to piss in your pants or a hole scrapped beside you, you eat crackers and other low fiber items. You learn to ignore pests crawling on you or trying to eat you, and you most have a ton of patience.
