What advice do you have for someone (younger brother) looking to enlist in the AF but wanting a desk job or something dealing with finance?

Yeah... Finance...
You could also probably throw a dart at a list of USAF jobs and randomly hit a desk job. There are only a few positions, at least that I can list off the top of my head, that involve going out and pounding dirt.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth
Respectfully disagree. Most of our jobs are out on the maintainence line, running logistical convoys, providing security, loading ammo for airplanes, intel, firefighting, calling in Air Strikes and the list goes on and on. Only a few AF jobs are in the office just like any other service. Those jobs are finance, contracting, personnel, medical etc. The rest don't sit at a desk. Just like the other services you have support and you have ops. Less than 4% are in airplanes as well. The rest are making sure the ops are covered and secured.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - I didn't say that everyone worked a desk. I stated that there are very few ground pounders... And that is a fact. Mechanics, ordinance, firefighting, these are not ground pounders.
