I have been told numerous times that the crime is pretty bad in and outside Fort Hood and a good place to look at would be the Belton area. Having a family, I'd rather keep my family in a decent area obviously. Please do not comment " there's crime everywhere". this is obvious and the point is not to find a crime-free zone, but an area that is safer.

I live inCopperas Cove cove, there is a very nice community called hearthwood park. It’s a nice neighborhood with an elementary and middle school inside the neighborhood.

You will probably have to pay out of packet, depending on what house you looking at about $1400-$1500. BHA won’t be enough to cover for the rent.

People are gassing the whole crime rate. Look in harker heights or near lions park/stan schlueter loop. There are some nice town homes there. Had one for $800 a month.
Also since I left I know they’ve been building some nice spots on clear creek.
I’ll ask around and comment back under this!

There are some nicer areas that are technically in Killeen... south of 190 out towards the airport is nice and newer. Especially if yo unwind yo working on WFH. Belton and Cove are nice but there are some, well shadier areas there too. Your commute is going to suck if you work on one side and have to come from the complete opposite side.
