Did you actually submit for command sponsorship or are you just assuming that?

Theres no reenlistment for two years for Korea. So did you request Korea and reenlist for it or did you come on assignment to Korea and then reenlist?

All of Korea is a dependent restricted tour, not just Casey.

I requested reenslistment for korea for 2 years. I submitted command sponsorship and got denied. I received a memo stating the reason why CSP got disapproved is due to to camp casey being area 1 which is dependent restricted

SPC (Join to see) well, Korea itself is a dependent restricted tour. You can only reenlist for Korea, not Casey, so you are where the Army was able to place you. Because it's a dependent restricted tour, you're not supposed to be able to renegotiate your contract if your command sponsorship is denied. It's Command Sponsorship, not CSP, that's a different Army program so when you're requesting a renegotiation make sure you are using the correct term.

So, you go back to your Career Counselor and request a Renegotiation. They'll tell you that you aren't allowed to renegotiate for that reason, and they are correct. However, you can plead ignorance and maybe the HRC gods will have pity on your soul. If they tell you that they won't renegotiate then tell them "It is HRC who approves or denies it, please send the request". 50/50 it still gets denied. At that point you can delete your assignment through your Career Counselor

I appreciate your advice sfc I will do this. And honestly I had no clue that camps in Korea were dependent restricted. I simply went to retention and told her I wanted to bring my family with me to korea she said no problem and signed me up for casey. I feel like most of it is her fault the fact being that she should of known the restrictions.but partly mine from not doing my personal research

SPC (Join to see) it is 100% your fault, you go to a Career Counselor and day you want to reenlist for a place and that's where they're sending you. I can't imagine meeting a SPC in the Army who doesn't know that Korea is dependent restricted and no Career Counselor could be expected to encounter a Soldier who doesn't know that. You are allowed to bring your family to Korea and like every OCONUS tour, you have to get Command Sponsorship approved to bring them, so your CC didn't mislead you.

Because Command Sponsorship is never guaranteed and gets denied pretty frequently, you're going to use that as a justification to request a renegotiation. If you're asked to write a memo about why you're requesting a renegotiation, avoid blaming your CC because HRCs response will be that you signed a statement saying that you've read the required option statement about the assignment in DA Pam 601-280

If you don't get command sponsorship, it's like my dad told me. You always have a choice. You can do it and like it or you can do it and not like it. The choice is yours.

I was stationed at Camp Hovey 20 some years ago (a mile or two outside Casey's back gate) and back then I really wouldn't consider Casey or Hovey "Family friendly", can't imagine it's much better now. Small PX, no on-post family housing, limited local medical services, schools etc. The other consideration is your MOS and gaining unit. Casey and Hovey are very near the border, you may be spending a lot of time deployed.

I'm at Hovey right now. I will say it's still relatively similar. Small shopette on Hovey that's maybe the size of the troop store in the RUBA at NTC, and the Casey PX is maybe half the size or less of the other PXs I've seen. The commissary is pretty well stocked, however.

I don't know anyone here other than officers or senior NCOs who brought dependents.

When I was there I think the BDE CDR (COL. Bolger) and the BN. CDR had wives there and traveled to Seoul on the weekends to see them.
