What are recommended [MIL ED] courses for becoming a Battalion Motor SGT?

Chief pretty much hit them all.  Many of those classes are great to have because knowledge is key when overseeing so many shops.  I got to attend the maintenance leaders course in Vilseck.  It was a very good class which basically touches a little of everything.  It goes over the basic concepts of reports, ordering, exchange pricing, tmde ect ect.  It is the foundation of just about everything you have to use as a Motor Sgt.  Though you can't become an expert of any of those fields from this course you can learn a wide array of things.  Gcss will get you some knowledge of what the army is moving too as chief stated above.  I have been advised by my chief to not put much effort into sams anymore as when I return from this deployment we will be making the switch.  If you are thrust into the position of battalion motor sgt then this could be a good course to have right now.  If you are asking for future reference I would suggest asking for additional duties to help you learn more in depth of each areas of the MP.  Coming from where you are now in Illesheim, I hope you can get more classes then I was able to attend while I was there for 5 years.  Unless, things have changed alot in less than a year, I do not for see that.  So dig into the books, regs, online information like themotorpool.org, networking like you are currently doing.  Get out on the floor and learn about all aspects of your shop.  Don't just believe everyone when they say they are good, but actually check behind them and hold them to doing the job they are assigned.  I am here for support.  I love helping Soldiers and fellow NCO's that are thirsty for knowledge and wanting to actually take on higher positions of responsibility.
