Most agree that the Army's take on distance learning is not effective; what are some examples of effective distance learning/online courses that you may have come across in the civilian sector? What was different specifically? What was the topic?

In ALC/SLC, blackboard is used, which is the same format that I have used in college, and it has been effective. I believe that if we are going to continue with distance learning in the Army, it should be set up in blackboard format. Classes that a Soldier can fly through and never truly learn from will continue to be ineffective, blackboard format would provide more accountability for the content that we are supposed to be learning and having that interaction with an instructor and fellow students is always helpful.

The JKO and Army blackboard are nice but don't translate well when you get out. Go to SFL-TAP center and see what is current in today's market. Almost all their offered courses are funded through TA while on active duty. This is what employers want !!! they don't care what you did while you were in.... seriously !! Don't waste your time on Army school stuff that isn't applicable, or hold any value outside of the ARMY. Stay focused long-term and not what you can get now. Get a Bachelors degree at a minimum while in or your wasting a golden opportunity.
