What are some experiences you have had working for the DOD that have impacted how you view Reserve duty / the Military in general?

As an Auditor for the United States Army, my eyes have been opened to various aspects in which the military unitentionally and intentionally spends government funds. Have other individuals had similar experiences / "ah-ha" moments in which there is "clarity" to why "things" are the way they are?
