What are some key areas I should focus on if I want to become a 170A?

I.E Bash scripting, Python, Fireye technologies, etc. I know focusing on ONE thing can hinder growth overall, but I don't want to overlook a certain language, program, etc.

Well Python is huge in the Cyber Security world as a major scripting language and is what a lot of tools are being built off of, so that is definitely a good place. Also I would look into Kali Linux and other Linux Security OSes. Finally as I would go to vulnhub.com download as many of the servers and labs that you can and go to work. Doing things like this can do nothing more than set you up for success.

well a couple of years ago, I would have said Linux and Python, but now having immersed myself abit, I'll say batch, bash, powershell, either perl or python .. VBS and JS will help too, but only after first learning the forementioned
