As a national accredited County Veterans Service Officer (nacvso.org) I have found development of non-veteran organization relationships have been very effective. Most veterans who are at least moderately active in a veteran organization at least know the benefits basics and where they can go to learn more. Through email groups such as church leaders, area non-profit organizations, county and state social services, state associations such as the Funeral Directory's/Assisted Living centers/In-home Care Providers/Caregiver Support Groups,.... Church and social services administrators hear from our veterans (or their families) who are dealing with health and financial matters that they wouldn't otherwise discuss with anyone else. I simply blast information out to them and often find out they mentioned it or posted it on their bulletin board or in a newsletter.

What made you decide to get that credential? Did you have to work with a Vet-related NPO/NGO to apply?
