SFC Thibault,
I have been working with Soldiers in both the TPU and the IRR for 10 years now as a Career Counselor. The biggest complaint that I hear from the IRR Soldiers is the lack of in person support. Instead of being able to walk into their local unit and have someone help them with issues, they have to be on hold with HRC and leave message for people to eventually call them back. I know it works well for some that just need the break from AD or TPU, but most that have I have talked to and done both seem to be happier in a Reserve position where they have a chain of command to work with.
